What do I expect on my first visit?

Your therapist will complete a consultation form which outlines any pre-exisiting health concerns, reasons for choosing a particular therapy, current areas of concern and any other relevant issues that you may wish to discuss.  Please allow an extra 15 minutes in addition to the therapy time on your initial visit.

Is it safe for me to have a treatment if I have a medical condition?

It depends on what the problem is. The majority of medical conditions are actually an indication that you may benefit from receiving a therapy, but please discuss any concerns with your therapist so that treatment sessions can be adjusted accordingly.  Likewise, a healthy pregnancy is not a contra-indication to treatment. It is however wise to avoid attending if you have an acute fever or infectious illness.

What do I wear?

This varies according to the therapy that you choose. For Reflexology, Indian Head Massage, Facials and Reiki it is advisable to wear loose comfortable clothing as you will remain dressed throughout.  For all other forms of massage treatments you will need to be partially unclothed and keep underwear on, however you will always be covered with towels and your privacy respected.

There are so many different types of therapy, which do I choose?

If you are unsure, it is best to discuss with your therapist.  As an indication, muscular problems or other ill health issues are best to book a 1 hour massage session which can be adapted accordingly, for a quick pick-me-up or maintenance of a back problem a 30 minute Back Massage session should be sufficient, and for relaxation either an Indian Head Massage, Facial or Aromatherapy Massage is a good choice.  It is worth nothing that whilst most therapies can be chosen at the session time, Hot Stones and Thai Compress must be booked in advance due to the nature of these treatments.

How many sessions will I need?

If you have a muscular problem or acute period of stress then weekly or fortnightly treatments are recommended initially until the problem is resolved. These can then be tailored down to  maintenance sessions every 3-4 weeks to suit individual requirements.
